The Mathematical and Computational Science (MCS) major has been superseded by the Bachelor of Science in Data Science degree program.
This program will continue to strive toward its lofty aims, which include fostering data scientists who are both agile and adaptable, providing a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of the field, and so on.
The ever-increasing bulk and availability of data, improvements in computer power, and progress made in algorithmic and software development all contribute to the excitement that this field continues to generate.
Students who earn a Bachelor of Arts in Data Science and Social Systems are given the opportunity to cultivate a triple fluency, which includes proficiency in statistical and computational tools, domain knowledge across the fundamental social sciences, and a profound and interdisciplinary grasp of a significant social problem.
